“The mission of the Kern High School District is to provide programs and services to allow ALL students to graduate from high school prepared to succeed in the workplace and at the post-secondary level.”

WHO WE ARE

The Kern High School District (KHSD) is headquartered in Bakersfield, California and serves the county of Kern located at the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley. The Kern High School District is California's largest 9-12 high school district with more than 38,000 students and 3,500 employees.

Founded in 1893, the KHSD has launched this website to serve as a clearinghouse of Career Technical Education (CTE) information for our business partners, parents, students, and the community at-large.

WHAT WE DO

KHSD's expanded commitment to CTE from 2015 to 2017 has resulted in a …
• 60% growth in the number of program offerings from at our premier CTE capstone campus (Regional Occupational Center)
• New and varied CTE offerings at our 18 comprehensive sites.
• Expanding dual enrollment offerings from less than 1% to nearly 10% of our student body.
• New and dynamic partnerships with local industry partners.
• A campus facilities upgrade at ROC (including a new Veterinary Lab, Auto Shop, Culinary Arts Restaurant, and Cosmetology Lab) slated to open in 2018.
• An entirely new westside CTE campus slated to open in 2019.
